Dynamic Behaviour
GOLD and its visual elements are in constant flux, composed and rendered directly from the Ethereum blockchain. While some traits are fixed and generated at the time of minting, others change and evolve based on the on-chain behaviour of GOLD collectors. The market defines the art itself.
Fixed Traits
Generated at mint, these traits are based on a transaction hash from the GOLD contract. Each artwork starts with eight layers, a unique combination of shapes and colours. Large shapes are 'gold plates', while groups of small shapes are 'gold clusters'. Each piece contains four plates and four clusters, each with their own variations. Each artwork also has a selection of colour palettes, up to a maximum of 17.
Dynamic Traits
All GOLD pieces have built-in variability. Each artwork constantly re-generates a new variant of its traits. In addition to the variability of fixed traits, there are a large set of dynamic traits that evolve over time, based on the on-chain behaviour of GOLD collectors. Some changes occur to pieces at an individual level, while others affect the entire GOLD collection. Some changes are permanent. Others temporary.
Individual Changes
These changes are based on the owner’s behaviour and affect the artwork’s on-chain provenance, also potentially affecting the artwork’s rarity.
Holding time
The length of time an artwork is held in the same wallet can add new traits and increase its rarity. After holding for 6 months in the same wallet, you can claim a new Bonus Plate, adding new imagery and increasing the richness and complexity of the composition. After 1 year in the same wallet, you can claim another Bonus Plate. Additional Bonus plates are also claimable after 2, 5, 10 and 20 years held. Claims are permanent and irreversible.
Claims
If you have held your piece in the same wallet for one of the periods decribed above, you can claim new Bonus Plates for your artwork on the claim page. You must make your claim within 24 days of your personal holding time milestone
Flipping
If an artwork is sold within three months of mint or a previous sale, it is classified as 'Flipped' and a Flip Marker is added to the composition. Once the work is held in the same wallet for three months, the Flip Marker will disappear.
Wallet multiplier
If a wallet holds two or more GOLD artworks, it creates more dynamic variations in the compositions at startup. If a wallet only holds one piece, the startup composition will always be similar. The more pieces a wallet holds, the more freedom the artworks have.
Time viewed
The longer an artwork is open, the more dynamic it becomes. When opening an artwork, plates change every 15 seconds. Every day the artwork is left open decreases the time between changes by 1 second. If an artwork is left open for 10 days, plates will change every 5 seconds. The more you look, the more you see.
Changing Ethereum Node
The Ethereum Node used as a data source can be changed by the viewer by pressing 'G'. Although GOLD uses a total of four Ethereum nodes for redundancy, having this additional option makes GOLD more decentralised and in the hands of the viewer.
Collective Changes
These changes happen to all GOLD pieces in the entire collection simultaneously. Some last just minutes, while others are permanent.
Sales with royalty
If a GOLD artwork is sold and royalty is paid, the entire collection’s imagery will intensely destabilise, their background colours turn gold for ten minutes and a new temporary Sale image will appear on all pieces.
Sales without royalty / Transfers
If any piece is sold without a royalty, or transferred from one wallet to another, the entire collection’s imagery will subtly destabilise, their background colours turn red for ten minutes and a new temporary No Royalty / Transfer image will appear on all pieces.
Approvals
If any artwork is approved for sale on a marketplace, the entire collection’s compositions will subtly destabilise, their background colours turn blue for ten minutes and a new temporary Approval image will appear.
Total activity trend
The total activity on the GOLD contract, including sales, transfers and approvals, results in more complex compositions of GOLD artworks across the entire collection. Increases in contract activity add more large plates, while decreases in activity result in fewer large shapes appearing.
Royalty trend
Royalties from sales affect the composition of clusters across the entire collection. Higher royalties paid results in an upwards-orientated composition, while lower royalties being paid result in a downwards-orientated composition.
Approvals trend
Approvals on the GOLD contract affect the speed of the colour gradient animation across the entire collection. An increase in the number of approvals increases the speed of the colour gradient animation. A decrease in approvals slows the colour gradient animation down.
Transfer trend
Transfers of GOLD pieces from one wallet to another influence the number of cluster shapes in all the artworks of the collection. Increases in transfers add more cluster shapes, while fewer transfers result in fewer cluster shapes appearing.
Percentage of unique owners
Over 50% unique owners of GOLD artworks results in shapes appearing on top of the frame. Below 50% unique owners results in the shapes appearing below the frame.
Vesting period
Every GOLD piece has a vesting period - a date since mint where new Bonus Clusters are added to the composition as a reward to holders. These changes occur in all of the artworks automatically and are irrevocable. The vesting periods for receiving Bonus Clusters are 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years and 20 years after mint day.
Vesting day
On the day the vesting period is reached, all pieces enter a bright and colourful mode for 24 hours, to celebrate the arrival of the new Bonus Clusters.
